Midland User Group (MUG) - 20th anniversary celebration.

On Wednesday 4th February 2026 MUG will be celebrating 20 years since the first meeting of some RISC OS enthusiasts was held in Robin Edwards home in Blackwell.

These included, in addition to Robin Edwards, Dr Pete Borcherds, John Rickman, Doug Webb, David Mullard and Chris Dale.

At that first meeting it was decided to set up MUG and to to hold meetings every other month of the year.

The group quickly expanded to hold meetings at the Methodist Hall in Blackwell.

At the end of 2006, MUG helped the ARM Club with its Christmas show at Featherstone.

Over the course of the last 20 years MUG have held some 16 RISC OS based shows, including that first one, at various venues.

These include the first show run entirely by the club at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon in 2007.

MUG shows have also been held at Birmingham University Guild of Student 2008 - 2009, Kenilworth 2010 - 2014, at the Recursion Fairs 2015-2018, virtually from 2022-July 2023 and the last, to date, in person MUG RISC OS Xmas Market in December 2023.

In addition to those events many MUG members have been regular trippers to the other RISC OS shows that have been held around the UK over the years.

MUG would like to thank members past and present, remember those who are no longer with us, and to thank the many RISC OS related companies and individuals that have made the last 20 years of RISC OS so memorable.

To commemorate the event MUG will be holding a celebratory meal in Kenilworth.
